The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has made it clear that from among the millions of beneficiaries the ones that are going to receive social grant payments will be the ones whose payments are on the schedule. The payment can be straight to the personal bank account of the beneficiary, through the SASSA card at the ATM, or at a designated retail outlet. What Beneficiaries Should Check Before Payment
SASSA recommends beneficiaries to check that their personal and banking information is accurate and up to date to avoid delays. Any alterations in communication or banking information should be reported immediately. Beneficiaries that are subject to regular reviews need to cooperate with verification requests in order to avoid being temporarily suspended.
Warning Against Scams and Fraud
SASSA has put out a warning that beneficiaries should keep their guard up against frauds and messages that are not genuine but are claiming to be from SASSA and asking for personal information, or even giving false promises of paying more. SASSA never charges anything for the services related to grants and also would not ask for PINs or secret banking details. All the official notifications will be given only through SASSA’s official recognized communication platforms.
