SASSA (the South African Social Security Agency) has announced that the payout of social grants in December 2025 will happen without any hold up, thereby providing a much-needed support to millions of beneficiaries all over the territory. With approved and active grant status, the beneficiaries will be able to receive their payments automatically without going through the application process again.
December 2025 Payment Dates and Schedule
SASSA usually pays out December payments sooner than in other months because of the public holidays towards the end of the month. First, Older Persons Grants are paid, then the Disability Grants, and finally the Child Support Grants. Payments for the SRD R350 Grant are done separately and may show up on different dates depending on banking confirmation. Beneficiaries are allowed to access their funds whenever they want after they have been paid.

SASSA displays a variety of secure payment methods for beneficiaries. Payment can be credited directly to personal bank accounts, withdrawn from SASSA ATM cards in supermarkets and at partner retail outlets, or cash picked up at designated retail outlets. The ones chosen for the regular grant reviews must be very responsive to the verification requests. Besides that, SASSA keeps on reminding the beneficiaries that they do not have to hurry to take out money on the day of payment, as the money will be there for them.
Scams and False Information Warning
SASSA has warned the public that, during the December period, the cases of grant-related scams have increased. Beneficiaries should not pay attention to any such messages which either promise them extra payments or ask for their personal information. SASSA does not charge any fees for the grant services and will not ask for PINs or confidential banking information.
